Gender, Language Learning Style and Strategies: EFL and ESL Students
Togainaninsightintolanguagelearnerslearningstylesandtheirpedagogicalapplicationinlanguageteaching,thispa-permainlydiscussesmaleandfemalelearnersdifferentlanguagelearningstylesandstrategies,andthepedagogicalapplicationofthisknowledgeinEFL/ESLteaching.Itisfoundthatthelanguagelearningstyleswhicharepreferredbymalelearnersarevisual,tactile,kinesthetic,takerisks,speakup,askthequestion,belogicalinlearning,whilelearningstylessuchasauditory,reading,well-organizedwrittenwork,self-motivation,persistence,responsibility,sensitivetosocialcontextarepopularamongfemalelearn-ers.Althoughtherearealsolimitationsinthesefindingsduetothesmallsizeofsampleparticipantsandthediversityamongna-tions,itsurelyprovidessomereferencesforEFL/ESLinstructorsintheirlanguageteaching.
