Impact of Cultural Identity on English learning for Chinese EFL Learners
摘 要:
BasedontheliteratureviewofsomepublishedarticlesthatreportontheimpactofculturalidentityonEnglishlearningforChineseEFLlearners,thispaperexaminestherelationshipbetweenculturalidentityandlanguagelearning.Throughthereviewofearlierresearchers,thisstudypointsoutculturalidentitynotonlyinfluencesL1languagelearningbutalsoL2languagelearning.AlthoughmanystudiesshowedthatthehomeculturalidentityoftheEFLorESLlearnershasanegativeimpactontheirEnglishlearning,therearealsoresearchersstressingitspositiveimpactonthoselearners.Finally,thepapermakestwoinstructionalsuggestionstoimproveChineseEnglishcompetenceofEFLlearners.
