AsEnglishservesasaninternationallanguage(orLinguaFranca),increasingattentionispaidtoEnglishpedagogyofEnglishasInternationalLanguage(EIL).ThisessaymaintainsthatinternationalmutualintelligibilityisamorepracticalandachievablegoalinEnglishpronunciationpedagogy,comparedwithnative-likeproficiencyandvariousofstandardEnglish.Meanwhile,Jenkins(2000)’sLinguaFrancaCore(LFC),aPhonologicalCoreforEIL,isbrieflyintroduced.
