Theemphasisislaidonexpandingstudents’vocabularyinthenewEnglishCurriculumStandards.Withouteffectiveapproachestovocabularylearning,studentscanhardlyformvocabularynetworksinmind.Combiningwithmoderneducationaltechnology,theauthorcarriesoutexperimentalteachingtoexploretheeffectivenessofvocabularyteachingbasedonprototypecategorytheoryandpresentssomesamplesofvocabularyteaching.Thestudyshowsthattheseteachingmethodscaneffectivelyenhancestudents’cognitionabilities,stimulateassociation,promotevocabularyprocessing,formacategorizednetworkschema,andfinallyimprovestudents’lexicalcompetenceandlong-termmemory.
